Nigeria faces significant challenges with child trafficking both within the country and internationally. An estimated 8 million Nigerian children are engaged in exploitative child labor and thousands of Nigerian girls are trafficked into the commercial sex industry in countries like Italy. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) was established to address this issue through investigations, prosecutions, public awareness campaigns, and international cooperation. However, NAPTIP continues to face challenges like a lack of funding, slow judicial processes, and ensuring international agreements are properly implemented.
